Wedding cakes come in all shapes, sizes and prices. So, how are you going to decide on one cake when there are literally thousands of designs, frostings, and fillings to choose from? Before you get overwhelmed, realize that there are some practical elements to consider that will help you narrow down your choices.

The first and most important thing to decide when choosing a cake is how much of your budget you are going to allot for this edible, sometimes extravagant decoration. The average wedding cake costs about 500 dollars and is generally priced by the slice.

The final cost of the cake is determined by time and labor, design, number of tiers, icing and filling choice, decorations and method of delivery. If you are on a specific budget, then you will want to be careful not to choose an elaborate cake from a bridal magazine that will take a significant amount of time for the bakery to reconstruct. A good idea is to show the bakery the cake and to ask them what they could do to make a similar design.

Another practical factor when choosing a cake is the choice of frosting, which can affect price, delivery and design. Butter cream and royal icings are less expensive, but could melt or get crushed in transit. Fondant however, is more durable, but also more expensive. At the same time, fondant is used on most designer cakes and can be molded to just about any idea the bride or baker can dream up. Fondant is also an important choice when you are planning to have the cake displayed outside during a summer wedding, as butter-cream tends to melt.

Considering how many guests will be attending the wedding should also help you to determine how many tiers and types of layers you will be having. If you are planning on accommodating 200-300 guests you may want to have a three tiered cake but order two sheet cakes so that you will have enough to go around.  Many couples will decide to have different cake and filling flavors on each tier, which will allow for variety and taste preferences. Another traditional thing is for couples to have the smallest tier to keep for themselves.  Many newlyweds like to freeze the top tier and eat it on their first anniversary to remember their special day.

Finally, be sure to arrange a cake tasting with your baker, as they will be able to help you decide on flavors based on your preferences. Not only is this fun, it’s a tasty way to spend an afternoon.

Wedding days are special events that symbolize so many beautiful and celebratory components of the experience of life. Weddings are an opportunity to showcase hope for the future, dreams come true, and love and devotion. Even with these wonderful aspects of a wedding in mind, making the arrangements for such an event can sorely test and strain even the best of relationships and in many cases, looking to wedding planners is the best way to ease the stress of wedding planning.

A wedding planner can step in and take care of the thousands of “moving parts” that need to be taken care of so that the wedding can come off without a snag. With a professional wedding planning on board for the event, the happy couple can focus on the big decisions and other plans and preparations, such as the honeymoon or their living arrangements.

Typically, wedding planners will meet with the couple to learn about their tastes and their preferences. In many ways, the wedding planner tries to get the “big picture” of what is most important to the couple for their wedding day.

With the big picture view, a wedding planner is then able to use their resources and connections to start lining up the various choices for each area that needs to be arranged. They can gather information on everything, from the invitations, the choices of wedding ceremony sites, transportation, the food and drink options, the choices in wedding cakes, the wedding gown that the bride will wear, gown accessories, rehearsal parties weddings usually include, wedding photographers and wedding videographers, to the decorations for the church and banquet hall, including flowers and wedding candles. They may even take care of the wedding gown preservation details. They can sort through options according to the overall desires and preferences of the couple.

Once the wedding planner has a number of choices lined up and ready to present, they will meet again with the bride and groom so that they can make some additional decisions that will move the whole process along. Then the planner can take action on those decisions, taking charge of all the minute details and leaving the couple to focus on their daily work and lives.

One of the major benefits that couples enjoy while working with a wedding planner is simply having someone to look to who knows exactly what needs to be done and the sequence of events that must be scheduled. Since most couples are not experts at planning weddings, it can become overwhelming very quickly, both with the details that they know they must take care of, as well as the many things that don’t even occur to a couple.

Because a wedding planner has so much experience and has planned many such events in the past, they know all aspects of what needs to be taken care of and can anticipate problems and help the couple avoid pitfalls as well. Simply having such experienced guidance throughout the process can be an enormous help and can reduce the stress of the occasion a great deal.

A wedding planner can also be helpful in finding the best prices and can often save the couple much more than what they will pay a planner in fees. This is because the wedding planner has established relationships and can often negotiate better prices because they know exactly where to shop for the best deals. It is like having an insider on your team.

One of the other instances when wedding planners can be very helpful is in bringing an outside perspective when it comes to reaching a peaceful compromise on disagreements the couple are having. When the couple reaches an impasse, they can look to the wedding planner for a professional opinion and help in making the right choice.

There is nothing more frustrating than trying to find that perfect wedding dress for that special occasion. It does not matter if it is your first marriage or your fifth marriage. Wedding dresses can be a pain if you do not know where to go to find them. But there are resources to help you find that perfect marriage ensemble that will transform you from drab to fabulous with just a zip. You can look your best on your wedding day in a perfect gown just for you. Groomsmen have the tough job of helping you, the groom, plan for his wedding. It is traditional for you to give your buddies some groomsmen gifts to express gratitude to them for being a huge part of your wedding. If you are wondering what you could get your groomsmen, worry no more. Picking out groomsmen gifts is fairly easy, just as long as you have plenty of imagination and if you know your friend well.

Since you have known your groomsmen for a long time, you could definitely come up with a unique and thoughtful gift. Because you are giving gifts for the guys, it would be best to get them something functional. It is rare to find a guy who would want a knickknack that would simply be an ornament in their pad so it is better to give them something useful.  One exception to the rule would be something like personalized pub signs.  Because the theme to these signs are usually funny and cool.  Most guys would love to hang them onto their walls.

Take my brother, for instance. When our older cousin had gotten married, he asked my brother to stand as one of the groomsmen because they are really close. Knowing that my brother is totally addicted to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and also in a fraternity, our cousin’s greek groomsman gifts to my brother was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball and glove set. I could tell then that my brother really appreciated the gift because it was close to his heart and until now, he plays with that baseball. Other sports themed gifts that you could give would be tickets to their favorite game or a Sports Illustrated subscription.

If your friend is not into sports, you could also get your groomsmen gifts that they would enjoy. For the wine enthusiasts, an engraved wine stopper or a waiter’s corkscrew would be suitable. For your outdoorsy friends, you could give them a Swiss army knife or a compass and they would surely be pleased. A lot of guys are into gadgets, so anything that has to do with electronics is most likely going to make your groomsmen extremely happy. You could also give them an excellent wallet or a belt that they could use for a long period time. If you are more of the traditional type, you might want to give them something like engraved flasks or money clips that would also make classy gifts.

When my brother-in-law married my sister, his groomsmen gifts were different for each of the guys. He said that it was hard to look for just one gift for all his groomsmen due to their varying personalities. His most memorable gift to one of his groomsmen was some shares of stock. For the longest time, his friend wanted to own shares of stocks in a good company but did not want to risk his own money. You could just imagine how happy his friend was when he opened the certificate.

Other popular groomsmen gifts that you could give are travel journals, tools, pocket watches, poker sets, cigars, and cufflinks. It does not matter how much you spend, as long as you choose groomsmen gifts that they would enjoy.

There are only two months to my wedding! I have not looked sent out my email wedding invitations to my friends yet. I should get that done by this week, so that I can confirm the guest list. With two months left to go, it is a good time to start printing the wedding invitations. Since the hotel is providing free printing, I’m just going to make use of it instead of incurring higher costs.

What you can do is to send out email invitations. Get your friends to RSVP to that wedding account with their contact numbers and their addresses if necessary.

Nearer the date, call them again to confirm their attendance as you work out the seating position. At the same time, it is to remind them to be punctual for the wedding.

There are some sites that allow you to invite everyone and then they will click their response there. If your friends are on Facebook, you can start an event and get them to respond.

What some people do much earlier is to send ‘Save the Wedding Date’ cards, so that their friends can remember the date and keep it free, before they actually reply. That’s because some of the dates you choose may be popular holiday dates.

If you are planning an upcoming wedding, you may be wondering how to choose the perfect wedding photographer.  There are a variety of different things that you should take into consideration when trying to pick out a wedding photographer.

One of the first steps in choosing the perfect wedding photographer is to decide what type of wedding photos you want.  You can choose from more traditional photos, with very simple backgrounds.  However, you can also choose from outdoor wedding photos, black and white photos and photos that are a bit more artistic and all around fun.

It’s essential that you define the type of pictures you require as this will allow you to refine your search to relevant photographers.A popular way to choose a wedding photographer is through personal recommendation.  You can ask family and friends for recommendations.  You can also search the phone book and Internet for local photographers, for example by keying a phrase such as Leeds wedding photographer in Google search.  If your city is hosting a bridal extravaganza, you may want to consider attending to check out local photographers.

You will want to make sure that you check out the photographer’s portfolio.  Ask to see a variety of different samples of his or her work.  This will give you a better idea of whether this particular photographer can accommodate your personal style.

Take as long as you need to get to know the photographer.  This will give you a feeling of how well he or she can work with you and your bridal party.  While some photographers may be able to take beautiful pictures, if you do not build a working relationship with your photographer, then your pictures will not turn out like you had hoped.

Don’t be afraid to ask the photographer for references if you haven’t been referred by a friend or relative.  This is an important step, so that you know how others have felt about their overall experience with the photographer.

When trying to choose the perfect wedding photographer, you will also want to consider your overall budget.Don’t shy away from asking the photographer for discounts on additional pictures.  Therefore, have a full understanding of the photographers pricing before making your final decision.  As well, make sure that you get all of your pricing in writing, before the big day.

When trying to decide how to choose the perfect wedding photographer, if you take a few simple steps, you will be sure to find one that works well for you and your personal style.  Before you begin looking for a photographer, decide on what type of photos you want, as well as your photography budget.  If you follow these simple guidelines, you will be sure to pick out a wedding photographer that will capture the memories, of one of the most important days in your life. You only get one chance to capture the moment so you want to ensure it’s done properly.

Wedding Rings – Celebrate Your Anniversary With A New Band

Celebrate with a new band? You mean the latest musical group? Er, no. Your marriage was made to last. You made it that way. Celebrate your achievement and your undying devotion by giving the perfect gift: a wedding anniversary ring.

Whether it’s your 10th anniversary, your 25th or your 50th, your loved one will appreciate the symbol and the fact of reaching the pinnacle of success. Forming a bond that endures takes dedicated effort. Celebrate that bond with a band, an anniversary band.

Traditionally, paper, silver and gold represent the 1st, 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries. Yet an anniversary band of platinum and diamond is appropriate in any year. Where else can you break tradition and respect it at the same time?

Imagine an antique anniversary band that is newly made. A paradox? This classic design may be studded with dozens of small oval-cut diamonds set into a band of 14kt gold. At the same time, it speaks to the modern heart that wants a special symbol to celebrate the glorious progress toward a lifetime goal.

A sloping pipe-cut band of yellow gold can be crowned with a series of baguettes. The superb clarity and color of these diamonds need not be reserved for the 75th wedding anniversary, or even the 10th. Because an item of jewelry such as this is perfect on any year.

Men, too, are equally deserving of an anniversary band. Success in marriage is a two-way partnership. The ring choices open for them are as wide as those they face everyday to sustain a loving relationship.

Picture a platinum wedding band inlaid with a central cable of titanium. Or, consider a titanium band inlaid with a central strip of sapphires. However you mix and match these materials, the anniversary band at which you arrive will be informed by the finest design. That’s the perfect symbol for the fine undertaking that supports you both through the years.

Every one of those years is equally deserving of a celebration. Mark them all, because dividing the years evenly by five is just a convention. Be unconventional and go for the tungsten ring that traditionally represents the 16th year.

Tungsten? Light bulb filaments? Think again. True, this metal melts at 6,000 degrees so it can never be destroyed in a home fire. True, it’s incredibly strong, durable and scratch resistant. But practical attributes are a small part of the reason to select one of these. They are stunning.

Polished to a high sheen, these lightweight anniversary bands have the look of fine silver. Carved with a contemporary design and topped with square-cut ruby they are not merely a fine piece of jewelry. They are the embodiment of all you have striven to protect and enhance through the years.

Anniversary wedding rings are more than just a fine piece of jewelry. It’s a promise of a memory to come.

Beach Wedding Packages

The world is a much smaller place today and this means that it is easier to get married in an exotic  location almost anywhere in the world to make a wedding extra special. Despite having a large country with plenty of wonderful beach resorts, this fascination with exotic places also fascinates Americans as well. They too are keen on organizing their weddings on remote Caribbean beaches.

Beach Wedding Packages

The general consensus is that Caribbean beach weddings is a viable option. The reason for this is that the local beaches are not as well-kept as those in the Caribbean and this is also one of the prime reasons for people wanting to spend time on Caribbean Islands. Owing to their location, weddings can take place at almost any time of the year which takes the pressure off the couple trying to have it in the right season at home. Moreover, many of these islands have identified the need for many couples who would like to say ‘I do’ in the presence of their friends and family standing on a pearly white beach with the clear blue sky as the canopy over their heads. If the location isn’t enough to convince you, a number of the all-inclusive resorts are now providing Caribbean beach weddings service included in the cost. If that isn’t enough, this type of arrangement also makes it easy for the couple to enjoy their honeymoon in the same place as they marry.

You probably have to wait for some time before the wedding can take place and you might also have to obtain a marriage license before the wedding date. Be prepared to pay anything up to 300 dollars for the wedding license (depending on the venue) but they can be as low as 50 dollars – bear this in mind. It is also important that each couple is aware of the passport regulations and ensure that theirs are valid prior to them travelling to the Island of their choice for the pre-planned beach wedding packages. Of course an invalid passport could mean that you are not allowed entry into the country and that is an extremely embarrassing situation, isn’t it?

Tropical Weddings

If you are considering tropical weddings?  You can plan your wedding yourself, although it may be harder than hiring someone to do the work for you.  Many of those that get married at destinations around the world do the planning for the event themselves, just as they would for a hometown, traditional wedding. This can cut your costs down a well. If you are planning to do your wedding planning yourself, consider these important tips.

The most important thing that you can do is to find a local to help with the planning of tropical weddings. Even if you plan all of the aspects yourself, having someone local to help you to make connections and to find the best locations is ideal. You may be able to call on someone at the local church there that can assist you in any aspects that are necessary. You may be able to find some relative, distant or not, that lives in the area. Or, contact someone at the hotel and offer to pay them for their help. Having someone local will save you quite a bit of time, aggravation as well as money.

When planning tropical weddings, you will quickly see that your options are many.  Sure you can plan any aspect that you would like to first, but it makes sense to work on planning your accommodations first. This way, you will be more likely to actually have the help of those that are at the resort or hotel. When this happens, you have someone to call on to offer you help.  Many of those that book tropical weddings will book them right at the hotel that they are staying at. Many of these hotels have a wide range of services set up already for weddings.

To help you to make the right decisions about the wedding location, here are some tips to help you. Before you select a location to be married at, make sure you know what the laws in that location actually are. Another concern about the location that you get married is will be the cost of the wedding itself. Some Caribbean Islands are just more traditionally affordable than others. You should also plan on the costs for accommodations, meals during your stay and even the things that you would like to do there.

Does the location provide wedding planning help to you?  Many of the more popular locations for Caribbean weddings will help you by providing you with someone to guide you through the process. Others that are more remote may make this more difficult. Try to find someone that you can trust there to help you through the process.

To learn more about what a Caribbean location has to offer to you in the way of Caribbean  wedding planning, consider the resorts themselves.  Many of the locations where you would stay in the way of accommodations will provide you with all of the necessary help you can need. You can and should consider talking to several resorts in the area to see which can offer you what it is that you are looking for.

Your wedding invitations are just the beginning to having your wedding reflect your own individual style.  Today, more than ever, couples are doing everything they can to make their wedding day uniquely personalized.

No doubt your personal tastes helped you choose your wedding location, colors and theme.   Since your wedding invitations are an introduction to your wedding, they should reflect your selections and ultimately your personal styles.

It used to be that wedding invitations were always very traditional in both color and appearance.  Today, they come in a variety of styles, sizes, themes and vibrant colors to reflect the creativity of modern wedding couples.

Traditional is still an elegant choice, but today your options are truly limitless.  There are designs based on seasons of the year, personal interests, colors, specific themes, location settings, ethnic backgrounds, flowers, etc.  Your wedding invitations can have a contemporary look featuring bold colors and patterns or they might showcase your engagement photo or they may even highlight your monogram.

Your decisions do not end with the wedding invitation itself.  There are the font styles and ink colors.  Again, there is an impressive selection of fonts to fit any type of wedding design.  Be sure when selecting your font style that it is easy to read for your guests.  The more script the style, the more difficult it usually is to read.  Ink color choices are not quite as abundant as font styles, but there are still plenty to match up with your chosen wedding colors.

Here are some questions for you to consider when choosing your wedding invitation design:

1. In what type of setting are you getting married – church, formal, casual, outdoor, destination?

2. What are your chosen wedding colors?

3. Is there an overall theme to your wedding?

4. Do you want to be earth friendly with your invitations such as choosing a recycled paper stock?

5. Will your wedding theme be ethnic or religious related?

6. In what season will your wedding take place?

7. What is the style of your wedding – will you want traditional or modern wedding invitations?

8. What type of flowers are you having in your wedding?

9.  Do you want to include your photo on your wedding invitations?

10. What is your wedding invitation budget?

Including a special Bible verse, a line from a song, a favorite piece of poetry or a beloved quotation is another creative idea for personalizing your wedding invitations.  Many times the invitation printer will also have a large selection of extra verses to choose from.  Just be sure your chosen invitation style has enough room for these extra lines of printing.

Your wedding invitations should be uniquely personal just like your wedding.  With all of today’s gorgeous choices, you are sure to find exactly the one that is perfect for your special day.
