A Guide to Professional Styles and Techniques in the Art of Digital Wedding Photography
Everyone can feel sentimental at times and when this happens, people often enjoy looking through albums full of good memories for them.
Photographs taken of the events surrounding someone’s wedding day are amongst the most cherished memories captured.
Because of this, most people will have professional photographers taking pictures before, during and after the wedding. Depending on the photographer’s style, they may not have people pose in traditional wedding positions. They are expected to wait patiently to be able to catch memorable portraits. Most photographers that are employed for weddings have assistants so that they can maximize their strategy in creating an album that will reflect their talent and skills.
What if you would also want to use your digital camera to take pictures of a friend’s wedding?
Here are a few basic techniques and styles for anyone who wants to capture the said event using a digital camera:
1. Before you take a picture of a couple or certain fixture area, you need to check the background of the area and make sure it is something you want reflected in the picture.
2. Once you have a good background, you can take several pictures in different ways, such as from the shoulders up vs. always entire body shots.
3. Next you need to consider the people in the picture, to make sure you get them at their best, for instance, if someone is wearing glasses have them move their head slightly so the flash will not reflect off them. 4 If there is a couple or a group that you wish to include in the picture, you should zoom in or out of the picture. 5. Make sure not to have bright light in the background or the foreground pictures will turn out dark or shadowy. 6. Taking several candid shots are fun and make great memories for the couple too. These portraits reveal more than the quality of the picture itself. In fact, many professionals do this to capture intimate and memorable moments. 7. Asking people to pose is not something you should do very much of and in fact, most of the pictures should be taken at random; so stay alert.
8. Your digital camera should be equipped with appropriate memory cards or sticks to ensure that no great moment is missed.
In other words, you have to have an extra memory card especially when you want to preserve more moments on film. The following suggestions should be considered before buying a memory card:
a. For 3 mega pixels – a 256 MB memory card b. Use a 512 MB memory card for 4 mega pixels c. Use a 1 GB memory card for 6 mega pixels
9. Make sure to use high resolutions for pictures that will be printed up and displayed by the couple or guests.
By using high resolution on the pictures taken, the couple can have the photographs enlarged and the image will not be distorted.
10. Keep a copy of your best works so you can use and reuse the techniques that made your viewers smile and appreciate your creation more.
One great way to store these pictures, is to move them from your camera memory card to a file on your personal computer. There are software programs available that you can use to make a good picture even better.
Wedding Digital Photography is truly a wonderful art. Wedding is a wonderful event. Together these things will trigger emotions and memories, through out time and even more so if images are captured and preserved well. If you enjoy taking digital pictures and have a good camera to do so, then your efforts will be a part a peoples lives for many generations.
