Bride Sandals. Bridesmaid Flip Flops

HAPPY FEET: THE BEAUTY OF FLIP-FLOPS

There was a time when flip-flops would be seen with derision, as they were seen as informal, items of footwear that should just be worn to suitably casual places such as beaches or barbeques, at best. Some of you may still recall the fuss that was caused when several members of the North-western Women’s Lacrosse team arrived at the White House reception in thong sandals when critics derisively called them ‘flip-flops’. Well, that was just as 2005, but the humble flip-flop has come a long way since that time. This piece and others that follow are intended to show how these casual sandals are not only respectable, but preferred footwear for all kinds of formal ceremonies, including weddings.

Humble origins

In truth flip-flops have originally not enjoyed an elevated position. This maybe because flip-flops are a type of thong sandal (though not the only kind) often constructed out of rubber, and is not a very fashionable substance, is it? But, there are also many very dressy thong sandals, which are not known as flip-flops. By definition, so, flip-flops are a non-formal, slightly derided sandals that are easy to slip in and out of, and easy to transport.

On bridal demand

Despite all of that, though, flip-flops are some of the most popular foot attire these days, and not just among the trendy people who want to dress unusually. So much so that proof of the increasing respectability of flip-flops is their popularity as bridal footwear. Most women who have been through a traditional wedding will acknowledge the hours of excruciating suffering that a bride must endure in her stylish, traditional, shiny bridal shoes or agonizing stilettos. Not only does she have to socialize with the uncomfortable shoes on, but she must also smile through it all. No wonder, then, that brides have heartily agreed with the idea of wearing casual sandals to their wedding ceremonies with a vengeance, particularly if the wedding in regard is not exactly the walking down the aisle type.

Universal access

That is not to express that casual sandals should be undesirable at a church wedding, however it is true that bridal flip-flops are more desirable at a beach wedding, perhaps, or a garden wedding. But to whichever type of wedding {ceremony} venue they are used, flip-flops often create an immediate atmosphere that encourages guests to relax and appreciate the wedding nuptials. In keeping with their desirability in weddings, bridal flip-flops can now be had in more fashionable avatars, so they can easily be worn to church ceremonies, with no concern. So if you are in the market bridal footwear, do not be at all surprised if the outlet employee suggests casual sandals set with semi-precious stones, or ornamented with sequins or beads.

Price rules

Perhaps the number one part about flip-flops, bridal or otherwise, is their ridiculously low price range. So much so, you can obtain rubber flip-flops for as little as one dollar, though you might wish to spend a little more than that on your wedding pair. In that case, you may have to spend all of five dollars at least. For sure, as soon as designers spot a good thing, its price increases, so you can really go all out on a pair of designer flip-flops, though it is purely a matter of personal taste.
