Recycle Your Holiday Ornaments As Wedding Decorations

Bridal Jewelry

Most people have box upon box of seasonal decorations which they only pull out to use around the holidays. If you are having a wedding during the winter and holidays, you can dig through all of your holiday decorations to see if you can use any for your wedding. After all, you (or your family members) already own them, so why spend money buying something new? Check out these beautiful ways in which you can recycle your holiday decorations to use for your wedding.

Who doesn’t have hundreds of tiny white Christmas lights tangled up in their attic? There are so many ways you can use white lights as wedding decorations.  Those little white lights which look so merry twinkling on your Christmas tree will look just as festive wrapped around the pillars of your reception venue entrance. Or you can decorate potted trees located around the venue to bring life to them. The head table could be decorated with tiny lights paired with floral garlands. Just think about how your bridal jewelry will sparkle in all of that lovely twinkling light!

Plain round Christmas ornaments are actually incredibly useful as wedding decorations. The trick to using them in ways which are festive but do not make your wedding look like a holiday party is choose the colors carefully. Classic red and green together will definitely scream “Merry Christmas”, but if you take your silver ornaments and combine them with matte finish lime green or purple balls, they lose the holiday association. Fill tall footed glass urns with colorful ornaments anywhere you wish to add color and decoration with minimal effort. Use oversized urns to decorate the altar at the church or smaller ones on the guest book table. If you are planning on wearing lots of sparkly bridal jewelry, choose some ornaments with a glittery finish to combine with the smooth ones. Round ornaments also look marvelous suspended in rows with pretty ribbons across a high doorway or over windows.

What about the miniature table-top Christmas trees that many people own – did you know that you can re-purpose those for holiday wedding decorations? They make fantastic centerpieces for a winter wedding. Take off all the tacky red ornaments and use a white and gold color palette to give the trees wedding feel to them. You can affix white flowers to the small trees, as well as tiny gold berry sprays and chandelier crystals. If you prefer pearl bridal jewelry, swap out the teardrop crystals for large teardrop faux pearls and then top each tree with a large white satin bow for the perfect finishing touch.

There are many other holiday ornaments which can work equally well as wedding decorations. All of your gold and silver bells can be combined together into small wreaths, one to hang across the bride’s chair and one for the groom’s chair. Or borrow your mom’s collection of clip-on bird ornaments (every mom has those, right?) and clip them to branches as part of a nature-inspired reception tablescape. Little sprigs of faux berries would be charming tied to favor boxes with a red and white gingham ribbon.

With so many creative possibilities, you will find many fun ways to recycle your holiday decorations into wedding décor. Open up all those boxes that are collecting dust in the attic and closets before you go out to start looking for wedding decorations. You might just find a treasure trove of wedding decorations!
